Product update: Duet Mode for collaborative erotica on RedQuill

We’re excited to introduce a new mode of writing stories on RedQuill: Duet Mode. Duet Mode allows two users to co-author a story together, unlocking a new form of creative, personalized storywriting.

If you’ve ever wanted to co-write a fantasy with a partner, trade POVs or develop plots turn-by-turn, Duet Mode is built for you. Grab a friend, or make a new one and start Dueting.

How Duet Mode works

Duet Mode is a way to co-generate and co-create stories with AI with another RedQuill user. One user invites another to collaborate on a story, and the two of you write in an organized flow with clear status and turn-taking. Each chapter represents a turn. Instead of “Who writes next?” and “Which version is current?”, we make it simple to keep track who is up to write.

1. Invite your partner

Start a story and invite your collaborator by their RedQuill username. You can do this through the RedQuill Create Flow, or directly from Collaborative Stories (requires having a RedQuill account). This then sends them an invite notification so your partner can enter into the collaborative story.

Duet Mode tracks a current turn so everyone knows who’s up next. You’ll see:

• Current turn (who’s writing now)
• “Your Turn” / “Writing” status indicators
• Last activity so you can see if the Duet is active or paused

2. Pass the turn when you’re done with your chapter

When it’s your turn, you generate a story with AI and you can edit with AI or using your own words. Once you’re done with your chapter, you can pass the turn to your partner. They will then be responsible for writing the next chapter, and you both will alternative back-and-forth between chapters.

3. Notifications and Collaborative Stories section that prevent drop-offs

Duet Mode supports turn notifications, so collaborations don’t die. We also added a new Collaborative Stories section in the app to keep track of all your collaborations.

4. Social ecosystem that helps collaborators find each other

RedQuill supports profiles and followers, which makes it easier to find fellow RedQuillers you vibe with and keep up with what they publish. See someone who likes the same topics, kinks, fandoms or genres that you’re into? We’re continually finding way to help RedQuillers match with each other either in our Discord for paid users, or via our subreddit r/redquill.

5. Publish it

Like any story, you can publish your co-authored story for others to discover and enjoy.

Why collaborative erotica is powerful

Co-writing erotica or any story can be a force multiplier for creativity and fun. It can help you spark inspiration for new ideas and meet new people who share similar interests in topics or stories. But it’s often the case that writing with someone else quickly results in someone dropping off because it’s too hard or time-consuming to craft everything by yourself. With RedQuill’s Duet Mode, we’ve sought to reduce the friction and overhead around collaborating, so you can make stories with ease with others.
