RedQuill vs SpicyWriter

Which uncensored AI writer?

Short answer

SpicyWriter started as a jailbroken custom GPT inside ChatGPT and is now its own site. It gives you big-name AI models like Claude, Gemini and GPT, plus open source ones, with jailbreak prompts and tools to manage context. RedQuill is built only for adult fiction, so there's no model to pick or context to tune: one line becomes a full chapter, and characters, a Lorebook and Roleplay mode are built in.

What is SpicyWriter?

SpicyWriter (spicywriter.com) is an uncensored AI writing site run by HORSELOCKSPACEPIRATE, who has been sharing ChatGPT jailbreaks and custom GPTs since 2023.

The old GPT
Many people know "Spicy Writer" as a custom GPT inside ChatGPT. The creator says OpenAI kept fighting those jailbreaks, so SpicyWriter moved to its own site, where it runs models through APIs.
Models
It offers a long list of models in three tiers: Lite, Balanced and Advanced. Advanced includes Claude Sonnet and Opus, Gemini, GPT and top open source models, and is for Pro users only.
Writers and tools
You write with one of three writer personas: Spicy, Pyrite or Indigo. You can add custom instructions, lorebooks with keyword-triggered entries, file uploads and projects.
In practice
SpicyWriter is a power tool. Its own FAQ says even jailbroken models sometimes refuse, and suggests editing your message, retrying or switching models. It rewards people who like to tinker.

Where SpicyWriter is the better choice

SpicyWriter has a loyal following, and it earned it. For these jobs, it beats RedQuill.

  1. Frontier model choice. If you want to write with the newest Claude, Gemini or GPT models, uncensored, SpicyWriter is one of the few places that offers them.
  2. Fine control over context. Custom instructions, lorebooks with always-on and keyword entries, file uploads and projects let you shape exactly what the AI sees.
  3. Switching models mid-story. You can edit what the AI wrote, retry, or switch to another model when you want a different take. RedQuill lets you rewrite any paragraph too, but not swap models.
  4. Not just NSFW. Many people use it for SFW writing too, because the prompts aim for longer, bolder writing on any topic.
  5. Fast updates. It's in early access, with frequent updates posted on the site and an active Discord where users vote on features.

Where RedQuill is the better choice

SpicyWriter hands you powerful models and the controls to steer them. RedQuill does that setup for you, so you can stay in the story.

Built for explicit fiction, not jailbroken into it

SpicyWriter uses prompts to get general AI models to write adult scenes. RedQuill is made for adult fiction from the start, including kinks and power dynamics, within our content guidelines. The spicy level control sets how far each story goes, from slow burn to fully explicit.

One line becomes a full chapter, no model picking

You don't need to choose between dozens of models or watch a context window. Type "my rival and I get snowed in at a ski lodge" and RedQuill writes a full first chapter in under a minute. Then continue chapter by chapter, steer in plain words, rewrite any paragraph with AI and keep or undo it, or fork the story to try another direction. You can also illustrate any scene with an AI picture inside the chapter.

Characters that carry across stories

On SpicyWriter, you manage instructions and lorebook entries yourself. On RedQuill, you save characters once (looks, personality, history, how they talk) and reuse them in any story. Each story also keeps a Lorebook, so chapter 12 still remembers chapter 2. Learn more in Characters 101.

Roleplay with a Cast panel

Roleplay mode drops you into any chapter as a character, and the AI narrates the world and plays everyone else, so you roleplay with a whole cast, not one bot. Type what you do or say, or let the story move on its own. A Cast panel tracks where everyone is, what they're wearing, their mood and what they're secretly thinking, so you don't have to keep it all in your head.

A library to read and remix

SpicyWriter is a place to write. RedQuill is also a place to read: thousands of public stories are free on Discover, and you can fork any of them into your own version. Your own stories stay private unless you publish them.
