Use this trope to frame any transformation — physical, mental, behavioral, societal, or existential — as something that, while noticeable to the reader or observer, is perceived by the subject as completely natural or lifelong. The subject may be aware that a shift has occurred, but their mind and memory have been rewritten by reality itself to embrace the new state as if it had always been that way. This creates a dynamic where change is present — sometimes dramatically — but never resisted, questioned, or rejected. The altered version of the subject is treated as the only version that has ever existed, both internally and externally. This allows for seamless, unquestioning integration of the change, often with undertones of comfort, identity fulfillment, or surreal detachment. Core Principles: • The transformation occurs, but perception adapts instantly. • The subject’s internal narrative conforms to the new reality. • Others in the world may affirm the change (“You’ve always been this way.”) or may simply behave as if nothing is unusual. • The effect can be erotic, symbolic, surreal, or existential, depending on tone.
