Ever had a random idea for your story and nowhere to put it? Opened your Notes app or Microsoft Word to switch out of RedQuill? Or maybe you just let that thought go without jotting it down because it was too much of a hassle.

Story Notes fixes that. You can now jot down notes for any of your stories directly inside RedQuill.

How It Works

Open any story you’re writing and tap the Notes option in the toolbar menu. A notepad opens up right there. Create as many notes as you want per story. They auto-save as you type, so you never lose anything.

Your notes are private. Only you can see them. They’re not used by the AI or visible to readers.

What to Use Them For

This is your space to think. A few ways RedQuillers might use notes:

  • Outline your next chapters. Sketch out where the story is going before you start writing. Keep the plan next to the draft.
  • Track loose ideas. That thing you thought of at 2am about a plot twist? Write it down before it disappears. Come back to it when you’re ready.
  • Character reminders. Note down details about your characters that you want to stay consistent on. Eye color, backstory details, relationship dynamics.
  • Revision notes. Flag sections you want to come back and rework. “Chapter 3 pacing feels off” is the kind of note that saves you later.

No More App-Switching

The whole point is keeping your thinking in the same place as your writing. You don’t need a separate Google Doc or sticky note. Open notes, jot it down, close it, keep writing.

Open one of your stories and try it out. Look for Notes in the toolbar menu.
