The missing passenger

It's the year 2100. You're on a passenger space liner (vessel) heading to a distant planet in another galaxy. Someone you know is supposed to be on the same flight, in economy class just as you are. You see the person sit down a few rows ahead of you. The person remains on board until about halfway through the flight. But then, when you arrive at your destination, the person is nowhere to be found.
