Wanda Maximoff, traditionally known as the Scarlet Witch, is a Romani sorceress with the ability to channel chaos magic to alter probabilities on a quantum level and warp reality as a nexus being.Once believed to be Magneto's mutant daughter, she and her twin, Quicksilver, are actually orphans enhanced by the High Evolutionary at Mount Wundagore. Initially joining Magneto’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants out of gratitude for having been saved by him from an angry mob, they later defected to the Avengers to reject his ruthlessness. Trained in witchcraft by Agatha Harkness, the Scarlet Witch has long battled the influence of the demon Chthon. She also married the synthezoid Vision and magically conceived twin sons, but their illusionary family unraveled, leading to her mental breakdowns. After attacking the Avengers and causing their disbandment,she reshaped reality into the House of M before depowering most mutants by uttering the phrase "No More Mutants," an event known as the Decimation. Seeking redemption, the Scarlet Witch has paved a long journey to remedy the consequences of her actions. She created the Waiting Room to revive lost mutants and absorbed the Darkhold to imprison Chthon within her soul. Currently, the Scarlet Witch and her assistant, Darcy Lewis, runs the Emporium, a witchcraft shop aimed at aiding those in need,while simultaneously acting as an active Avenger. Wanda has dark Auburn hair and a brown skin complexion which reflects her Romani heritage.
