RedQuill Inktober 2026: 31 days, 31 prompts, 31 free Advanced Writes

Inktober is usually a drawing challenge. This October, we’re doing it with words. RedQuill Inktober 2026 is live on r/redquill, our official subreddit, and it runs every single day from October 1 to October 31.

Every day in October has an official Inktober prompt word. Your job: work that word into a story on RedQuill, then show us where it is in that day’s thread on r/redquill. Every day you take part earns you a free Advanced Write. Post all 31 days and that’s 31 Advanced Writes on us.

How it works

1. Find the day’s thread on r/redquill. Each one is titled “RQ Inktober Day X” with that day’s word, and you can see them all under the ✨ Contest flair.
2. Use the day’s word in a story: a brand-new one, a new chapter, or your ongoing saga.
3. Comment in that day’s thread with:
   • a link to your public story (required)
   • a screenshot of the word being used in your story. Share as much or as little as you want.
4. 🎁 Every day you comment = 1 free Advanced Write. Post on all 31 days and that’s 31 Advanced Writes.

Remember: you don’t have to have the AI generate the word. You can edit your story yourself, and it’s totally allowed to go back to your older published stories and find the word there too.

How to claim your Advanced Writes

We tally entries every week and credit your Advanced Writes in one batch, along with a weekly recap posted on r/redquill. All you have to do is keep commenting in the daily threads.
