We’re starting with a simple system: a 1-5 star rating on any public story. Tap the stars, leave your score, and help the community figure out what’s worth reading.

Why Ratings Matter

Finding a great story takes time. You scroll, you skim, you start something and hope it holds up. Ratings give you a way to give your opinion and feedback about a story, and contribute towards being able to find the best stories to read. When a story has a strong rating from other RedQuillers, you know it’s something worth sinking your teeth into.

And when you’re looking for something new, ratings help you decide where to invest your time. Think of it as a trust signal from the community.

How It Works

Open any story and you’ll see the star rating right below the title. Tap to rate it from 1 to 5. You can update your rating any time.

Your rating gets combined with everyone else’s into an average score that shows up on story cards across the app. So when you’re browsing Discover, you’ll see ratings at a glance.

Sort by Top Rated on Discover

Head to the Discover page and sort by Top Rated to surface the best stories on the platform. The sort uses a weighted formula so a story with 50 solid ratings ranks higher than one with 2 perfect scores. Quality rises to the top over time.
