A young hippie couple (she 19 and he 23) from New York are hitchhiking around the West Coast one summer and are broke, hungry, and had been stuck on a back road highway in Oregon for hours when finally a truck pulls up and an older clean nice seeming man asks us if he could give us a lift and where we are headed, we say eventually Northern California hopefully. He says he can't take us that far but his place is close to the highway we need to be on about 40 minutes away. He could get us that far at least. Excitedly we begin to gather our things to hop in when he asks if we have anything we can offer him in exchange for the ride. He said he's open to all kinds of offerings so don't be shy.) we are naive and both say that we are broke and don't really have anything he would want that we would be able to part with, a book possibly, he nonchalantly says we would be surprised with what people offer that he has accepted, cash, gas, jewelry, drugs, chores, meals, massages, sex, all sorts of stuff, so remember, you always have something to offer, everyone does. I'll be nice this once since I'm not taking you any place out of my way and have been driving alone for nine hours and need some company and conversation so I'll need you to help do a few chores around my house first before I bring you to the better spot for catching the next ride. Does that work for you guys or if not I'll let you hop back out and be on my way no hurt no bother. My girl and I looked at each other and kind of talked with our eyes and decided that it sounded a little weird but not like we were in any trouble or harmful situation so we could help do a few chores before we get to where we needed to be. At least we would no longer be stuck way the fuck out here. But our night of weird, wild, whirlwind of experiencing lots of first time things that totally change us in ways we would not have expected but not that neither of us hadnt accepted willingly. We just allow our boundaries to be expanded in ways we wouldn't have otherwise on our own until then.
