Fatal hesitation and oblivious distraction

When characters find themselves in a sexually compromising situation, such as when they are about to be forced by outside forces to have incest sex, there might be many ways to escape the predicament. But in a conflicted character's mind sometimes hesitation or simple misunderstanding prevents them from finding an otherwise obvious way out. Characters often hesitate for too long to act, and are thrown deeper into sexual depravity because of it! The text describes how their minds are racing as they can see forbidden sex coming their way, but they can not make up their minds which direction to go to avoid it! Or characters might apply the benefit of the doubt, and misinterpret something sexual as something innocent until it is too late. They justify to themselves that some sexual situation has gone unnoticed and that it would be awkward to bring it up, and then suddenly find themselves in an even more sexual situation! Other characters might simply be oblivious to what is about to happen to them, being too naïve, innocent or distracted to see the depths of depravity they are about to walk into!
