Vanitas is an antagonist introduced in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. He is the physical embodiment of the darkness extracted from Ventus’s heart by Master Xehanort. Taking the form of a masked boy with an appearance resembling Sora, Vanitas serves as Xehanort’s apprentice and enforcer. He commands the Unversed, creatures born from negative emotions, and seeks to merge with Ventus to create the χ-blade.
