The two metal pieces swivel just below the apex of the A. Hands are secured mid-frame via built shackles. Ankles are affixed to the lower end of the legs. It forces the wearer into a sitting position, their knees bent, and their legs spread wide at 60 degree angle at the frames widest, and their hands locked in to the bars symmetrically. Above the A, there are two curved pieces - that when the A is spread to the wides, will lock the subjects head into the frame. The whole thing locks together with a padlock. 

It allows a little bit of movement, but the position itself is hard on the back and the arms as the subject cannot really rest in a comfortable position.
