This trope presents a supernatural challenge in which magic forces a character (or pair) to confront the desires they deny. The trial may be set by fae, spirits, ancient relics, or enchanted places like Avalon or Broceliande. The test manifests through illusions, visions, mirrored selves, or a partner placed in symbolic danger. It is not about physical temptation alone—it is about emotional honesty. The magic exposes longing, vulnerability, jealousy, or unspoken attraction. Use dreamlike, intimate imagery: moonlit chambers, reflective pools, shifting illusions that take the form of the person the character secretly wants. The tone should be introspective, tense, and lightly sensual. The trial should push characters to admit truths they fear: longing for someone forbidden, craving closeness, or doubting their worthiness of love. Success requires accepting or confronting desire—not rejecting it.
