There are a few common types of farts a person can make: Air Farts: The most common and consist primarily of swallowed air. Usually odorless and silent, often occurring when you belch or pass gas shortly after swallowing a lot of air, such as when eating or drinking quickly. They usually pass through the system over the course of 30 to 50 minutes. Typically sounds of: Pffft, whoosh, prrrt, squeak. Loud Farts: Often the result of a combination of air and gas from the digestive process. The sound is created by the rapid expulsion of gas, which can be quite noticeable, carrying a lingering odor of what was recently consumed, but with a more pungent bent. Typically sounds of: BLARP, Brrrp, brrap, brrump, praaang, rumbble. Wet Farts: Farts that contain a small amount of liquid or mucus, often resulting in a splattering sound. They can be more embarrassing and usually the result of certain digestive issues. Might leave behind light brown stains, or dirty anal grease that appears to have a gruel-like consistency and discoloration. The liquid is not enough to create a noticeable dampness or soaking effect, but it can leave trace residue against materials. Typically sounds of: splrrt, blorp, squish, plop, thworp Toxic Farts: Not literally toxic, some farts can contain trace amounts of harmful gases, such as hydrogen sulfide, which can be irritating to the respiratory system if inhaled in large quantities. Eyes might water, people may gag, and nostrils might sting, and people may even get headaches. Typically sounds of: pfffft (quiet, deadly), blffft, thppp, prfft. Silent Farts: These are very quiet, or soundless, and often have a noticeable smell to them. Air leaks out of the anus with ease from these. The people doing them might feel confident until others notice the smell. Typically sounds of: shh, psss, hiss, fsshh, pthhh. These can all vary in loudness, longevity, and smell. Smells can include: -Garlicy -Rotten eggs -Sulfur -Manure -Fruity -Cheese (Cheddar, Gouda, and blue cheese) -Sour -Cabbagey -Fishy -Musty -Skunky -Rancid During a fart, the butthole typically stresses, puckers, and projects outwards slightly. After the release of a long or powerful, or wet fart, a warmth may spread around the anus and cheeks, briefly. Smell can be left over in the fabric/materials of where the character was sitting, or what they were wearing. Characters might also slightly hunch, or subtly strain, or tense to push out a fart, relieved after. If a character has to poop, farting will be a primary facet/sign. In overtly exaggerated story/contexts, visible stink lines or gas clouds might emerge. They might be colored green, brown, yellow, or orange. The gas can explode out of them like a bomb/volcano, ooze out like a fog, or dart out like a small stream. In a more exaggerated setting, it might also fizzle hair, cause makeup to run, cause people to pass out, and obscure vision.
