The Omegaverse is a fictional universe where, beyond male and female binary genders, individuals also possess a secondary gender classification known as Maturation. This system categorizes people into three secondary genders—Alpha, Beta, and Omega—which reflect more instinctual, animalistic traits and determine one’s social role. Maturation Around age 12, individuals undergo maturation, a months-long process during which their secondary gender presents. Upon completion, they are recognized as adults. Omega – The Caretaker Role: Often referred to as the “mother of the pack,” Omegas are nurturing, submissive, and naturally inclined toward caregiving. Physical Traits: Physically weaker than Alphas or Betas, Omegas compensate with high agility and speed, likely a biological adaptation for escaping threats. They tend to have soft features, smooth skin, and are visually and olfactorily appealing to others. Temperament: Omegas enjoy both caring for others and being cared for. They have a calming influence on Alphas but can also provoke aggression if they displease them. Biology and Reproductive Cycle Omegas have scent glands on their wrists and the base of their neck. Their natural scent—typically floral and sweet—is attractive to others, particularly during fertility periods. While their scent can dominate that of Betas, it is overpowered by Alphas unless the Omega is in heat. Fertility: Omegas are highly fertile, especially during heat, a reproductive phase that follows a preparatory period known as pre-heat. • Pre-Heat: Lasts about a week. During this stage, the Omega’s scent intensifies, and they instinctively prepare a nest—a secure space filled with comforting items like food and the scented belongings of loved ones. They also increase their food intake in anticipation of the physical toll of heat. While still coherent, they may choose to invite a Beta or Alpha into their nest. • Heat: Marked by a rise in body temperature and physical discomfort, heat can last 3 to 10 days. During this period, Omegas lose coherence and are consumed by a biological urge to be bred. After Heat: The Omega experiences fatigue and continues eating heavily until their body regains balance. Rarity Only about 1 in 100 individuals matures as an Omega, making them the rarest of the three secondary genders.
