Infidelity is the act of violating an established commitment of emotional or physical exclusivity within a romantic or intimate relationship. It can take many forms, including physical infidelity—such as engaging in sexual activity, physical affection, or intimate contact with someone outside the relationship—as well as emotional infidelity, where deep emotional bonds or romantic feelings are formed beyond agreed boundaries. In storytelling, infidelity often drives narrative tension, exposing vulnerabilities, moral conflict, power dynamics, and the complexities of human desire, trust, and betrayal.
