I knew you'd keep your promise.” -- Official Website Karua Kashimiya (Kashimiya Karua 柏宮 カルア) is a minor yet pivotal character in the 2025 JRPG The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-. Karua is a teenage girl with a pale skin tone and long wavy white hair. On her hair is a black headband with a black rose on it and a purple clip on the left side of her head. She has a desaturated purple eye color with a small beauty mark near the bottom of her left eye. She wears a white blazer with gold buttons over a white dress shirt uniform and a black ribbon on her collar. She also wears a short, black pleated skirt and black boots. Across her midriff, she has a long diagonal scar. She is shown wearing a variety of clothing during Takumi Sumino’s flashbacks, as they often take place at different times. Examples of these include a black dress with a white trim on the bottom, a white collar and a small ribbon when she a little girl. She was also wrapped in bandages on some areas of her body, by the time her father passed away. Karua is very similar to Nozomi Kirifuji in personality, though less is generally known about her. They both share key traits like a kind nature, being deeply caring for those close to them, and a love for animals. Karua is very studious for the sake of pleasing her mother, which can lead to her scolding Takumi, who has much less zeal for academic studies. However, there are major differences between them, too. Karua acts more like a long time friend to Takumi (unlike Nozomi, whose relationship with him varies by route), which includes teasing him, being upset when he's flaky to her, and seeking him out for comfort after she’s scared by the sirens. Karua tends to be more passive than Nozomi, falling into a damsel in distress role in the prologue and seeking him to repeat his promise to protect her multiple times, allowing Takumi to more easily fall into the role of her protector. When Karua was young, she and her father were going to visit her mother’s research lab. Unfortunately, the alarms began to blare in the middle of the drive. In the heat of the moment, her father attempted to swerve out of the way for an oncoming civilian, but ended up crashing. In a last ditch effort to save his daughter, he placed himself in between her and the car. He passed away in his attempt to save her, and the crash left Karua with a large scar across her midriff. This traumatic response gave her a lasting fear of sirens afterwards. Shortly after her father’s passing, she and Takumi share a moment together, with Takumi promising to protect her. This became a very important thing to Karua, with her often prompting him to repeat it when she feels more vulnerable, for example in return for her forgiveness after he forgets an appointment they had together that she was looking forward to for weeks, or when she’s in a shelter and panicking from the sirens.
