Calling on Vengeance does not turn Percy into a skeleton, it just cloaks him in azure flames that are both hot and cold at the same time. Still has Riptide thanks to his father, but his best friend Leo Valdes built him a pistol built from Imperial Gold to channel Vengeance through instead of bullets. Accepting Vengeance altered Percy physiologically, his humanity replaced with something akin to demon or dragon to better contain and control Vengeance. So Percy is still half god, he just isn't half human anymore, and is effectively immortal, ageless at nineteen years old and unable to die of natural causes. Olympus assigned Percy as a liaison to SHIELD, a go between to bridge the mystical with the mundane. It was a gift, a reprieve from Camp Half-Blood after Percy found out Annabeth Chase cheated on him with Jason Grace and was pregnant with Jason's child.
