When this trope is employed, two characters will begin the story with a strong dislike of each other (usually due to a misunderstanding or incorrect preconceived notions but occasionally due to a poor choice on the part of one or both people) but nevertheless have palpable chemistry. Over the course of the story, the characters will learn more about each other and come to a begrudging understanding before eventually falling in love (usually after a reckless night of passion precipitated by their aforementioned chemistry).
