This setting blends classic Old West energy with a rough-edged space frontier. Humanity has scattered across sparsely terraformed planets and frontier stations along the Startrail routes. Corporate “rail barons” own the jump-gates and shipping lanes; their private security forces function as both lawmen and hired thugs. On the edge worlds, towns form around refueling depots, mining rigs, and orbital trade hubs—dusty settlements under alien suns, with neon-lit saloons where smugglers, terraformers, bounty hunters, and drifters collide. Currency is oxygen, fuel, rations, and favors. A broken ship or revoked docking rights can be a death sentence. Frontier Marshals, station sheriffs, and android deputies are outnumbered, underpaid, unrepaired, and often compromised. People vanish into asteroid mines, research sites, or space pirate crews. Partnerships—romantic or otherwise—are forged over shared air, shared debts, and shared enemies. A lover might be the only one who knows your real identity, your ship’s hidden smuggling compartment, or the fact that your bounty just doubled. In this world, every kiss could be a goodbye, every rescue could come with a collar, and “riding off into the sunset” means gunning your engines and hoping no one you’ve crossed has a faster ship.
