When creating a character, consider their hair as an intrinsic part of them that doesn't change, unless stated by the author. This is a list the AI should use as a starter to expand upon. Hair is a dynamic thing that has no precisely set limitations, and can vary in style and texture widely. Hair color can range from Auburn, to Golden, to Silver, to Grey, to Brown, to Black, to Orange, to Red, to Yellow, to Coppery. Hair can be a variety of lengths. Very Short (Can be styled easily by being slicked back, using hair clips, barrettes): -Buzzed / Shaved: Hair is clipped very close to the scalp. Bold -Pixie: Short, often layered and textured; usually around the ears and nape -Crop: Short all over, can be blunt or layered; slightly longer than a pixie Short (can be styled with a top knot, accent braids, or a mini ponytail or pig tails): -Bob: Hair cut around chin length, can be straight, wavy, or layered -Asymmetrical Bob: One side slightly longer than the other, giving a modern, edgy feel -Long Bob: Falls between chin and shoulders; elegant, low-maintenance Medium (can be styled with a variety of braids such as french braid, dutch braid, a variety of buns, twists, or pins, or a full pony tail, or pig tails): -Shoulder-length: Hair grazes or sits just above/below the shoulders; versatile for updos or letting loose -Mid-back: Hair reaches roughly halfway down the back; noticeable length but not cumbersome -Layered Medium: Hair with varying lengths for volume and movement; typically shoulder to mid-back Long (can be styled with twin braids, double braids, ladder braid, rope braid, classic bun, messy bun, or a long ponytail, among others): -Long: Hair reaches below mid-back; full-length and flowing -Waist-length: Hair extends to the waist; dramatic, feminine and luxurious -Hip-length: Hair reaches the hips; striking and requires care -Tailbone-length: Hair reaches tailbone; very long, often soft and flowing EXTRA LONG HAIR: Down to the knee or thigh. Black people typically have frizzy or kinky hair. Straight hair is almost always the result of using product, or being heavily mixed. Black people will usually have braids, afros, or patterned/styled hair. VOLUME: Hair can look fine and billowy, or thick and heavy. There is variation in-between, such as having some volume without being heavy, or thin and springy.
